My Invitation

The meal is prepared.
Everything is ready and I am waiting;
waiting for you
to come,
to accept My invitation.
It would gladden My heart
if you were to join Me.
It grieves Me when
My children do not respond
to my invitation;
when they do not come
to share with Me
all that I have prepared.

I stand at the door
to welcome you,
but some of you
do not see Me there
and this, too, saddens Me.
I am there to receive
the burdens you bring with you.
I hold out My hands
to take them from you.
Give them to Me
and I will hold them for you.
I will take them
and leave you free of them,
for you cannot receive
any of My gifts
if your hands and hearts
are full.

Surrender to Me also
your selves.
I have water ready
to wash you.
Living water
to cleanse and revive you.
You must allow Me do this.
I will not force you,
but I long to minister to you.
You have come to My house,
at My invitation.
You are My guest
and I would treat you well.

As we share
this time together
do not be distracted.
Do not concern yourselves
with what I have done
with your burdens;
the ones you gave to Me
as you entered.
They are in My keeping now.
Do not try to search for them.
I see it in your eyes
when you come to receive
the bread and wine
at My table.
They are searching.
They are not looking at Me.
How can I give you
the gifts I have prepared
for you,
for this meeting with you,
if you will not look
at Me?

Yes,
I have prepared
gifts for you;
for each one of you.
Different gifts
prepared and given
in love;
love for you.

Do not look
at another’s gifts
with longing,
or envy,
for in that way you may lose your own.
Look rather at what I give you.
The more you look,
the more you will know
of My love
for you.

So,
come with thanksgiving.
Eat and drink
of Me,
with Me
and go on your way
rejoicing;
rejoicing
because
I love you.
