Fear not, for I have redeemed you.
I have called you by name.
A name I have given to you,
to you alone.
No-one else has this name.
I used this name
when I asked My Son to redeem you,
My chosen one.
It is the name My Son uses
when He prays for you,
and I listen to His prayers
because I know of whom He speaks.
I know you.
This is why I have named you.
As a father names his child
so I named you.
Before you were born
I knew you;
what you would be like.
And your name describes you
as I know you to be;
the real you.
And when My Son presents you to Me
and you stand before Me
I will speak this name to you.
I will welcome you by this name.
And you will know
how you are known.
And you will know
how you are loved.
And you will know
beyond a shadow of doubt
that you are Mine.

I have been writing poems for a number of years now and many of them have been used as prayers in church services.
Recently I have started to write meditations. These are based on people in the Bible who met with Jesus.
Other meditations are to be read on a more personal level as God speaks to us, collectively or as individuals where we are now.
The meditations can be used in services, in study groups or in private.
I live in York, England, and worship at Holy Trinity Church, Heworth, and St Olave's Church in York.
